Business Manager

CRO Solutions is looking for a Business Manager to work within our growing multidisciplinary team based at Salford Quays. Ideally the candidate will have a bachelor’s degree business or finance however this is not essential, and all applicants will be considered.  The role will involve aspects of Business Management, submission of proposals to our clients, business development, office management, financial management, Marketing and provide support to the Operations manager as required. Experience within a similar role is advantageous but not essential as comprehensive training will be provided.

Please note this is an office-based role at our offices in Salford Quays, Greater Manchester.

The role: 

  • Support the Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of CRO Solutions. Assist in the management of the general office, office systems and supplies liaising with our facilities, IT teams and third-party suppliers.
  • Complete external returns e.g.– Office for National statistics, HMRC & Companies House.
  • Review Requests for Proposal (RFP) identifying proposal requirements.
  • Act as key point of contact for the collection of information requested during the proposal process.
  • Actively participate on any bid defence meetings with prospective clients.
  • Liaising with clients from world-renowned pharma to smaller biotech companies.
  • Liaise with external vendors to ensure accurate proposals for subcontracted services are received within prescribed timeframes.
  • On-going proactive involvement with external vendors and internal departments ensuring all services have been appropriately quoted and costed.
  • Negotiate with vendors and clients.
  • Liaise with our Legal counsel to ensure contracts are accurate and in place timely.
  • Build relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Use tools like Zymewire to find contacts for new potential Clients,
  • Liaise with our Business Development manager and Operations Manager to arrange CRO Solutions attendance at relevant exhibitions and conferences.
  • Prepare and submit proposals for Sponsors, maintain CRM and internal logs.
  • Liaise and support the Marketing team to provide content for marketing to upload to social media including corporate content to linked-in, blog posts, press releases etc
  • Build up social media following especially on linked-in
  • Work with Management team to develop a marketing strategy to assist in growing the CRO Solutions brand, supporting business development.
  • Assist in networking and building relationships through marketing at conferences and through social media
  • Supporting your Finance Manager with the day-to-day tasks required within a busy finance/business team.
  • Maintain accounts on Sage 200 – purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal ledger and cash book.
  • Prepare and generate sales invoices for issue to Clients, including maintaining internal processes.
  • Request internal payment approval for supplier invoices, processing purchase orders and reconcile to contractual values.
  • Reconcile supplier statements, liaising with suppliers to raise and resolve queries.
  • Prepare monthly supplier payment runs.
  • Perform financial reconciliations.
  • Assist the finance and management team to prepare financial records as requested.
  • On-going proactive involvement with project management in review of project status, ensuring contractual terms and milestones are invoiced timely and adjustments are made for changes in scope.
  • Support the preparation of Board Papers.
  • Perform other various business/accounts duties upon request.
  • To be responsible for carrying out risk assessments.
  • To act as Health & Safety representative and a member of the Health & Safety Committee
  • Maintain the Health & Safety policy, ensuring details are current and conform to current legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and be aware of regulations and procedures.
